Student works
Here we will introduce works created by students in Ms Takahashi’s live classroom and participants in our YouTube channel. Please, create some funny cats (or whatever!) Think up a title and use that as a starting point in creating an artwork and send it in with a simple explanation.
By the way, below we show two pieces created by people working on this site. Each was created under the skillful help of Ms. Takahashi, who unleashed our creative instincts and managed to untangle our knots, straighten our crooked lines and add the proper angle to body contours. I was already impressed by her clay works and this time she impressed me as a great teacher. If she can get someone as artistically challenged like myself to create work like this, then a person with only moderate skills should make great strides.
First work by old timer Bk
Old timer Bk says: When I came home and showed my wife saying “look what I made today.” She said: “You made that!! Tell me another!!”
First work by old timer Kz
Not the best looking piece, I am sorry to say… but as a first time piece…
I think I was fairly successful with the body and the paws thanks to Ms Takahashi’s guidance.” But I failed to properly relay my intentions to my fingertips when I made the eyes and mouth so they look a bit out of shape. Next time, I would like to create a prettier piece. We used light paper clay made by PADICO, which is really easy to use. I am thrilled to think that with more practice using lightweight clay I might perhaps one day be able to create works like Ms Takahashi using potter’s clay. Still, old timer B’s work beside mine looks so cute, like an innocent young lady cat.
The tools you need to create clay cats are shown in the video below.
